Batchelder

Batchelder Tile Company was founded in 1909, in Pasadena, California, by Earnest Allan Batchelder. They produced architectural tiles, bookends, garden pots and much more, made from California clay. Early tile had birds, deer, foliage, flowers, peacocks, rabbits, vines, Medieval designs and Mayan designs.

In 1912, Frederick L. Brown became partner and they changed the name to Batchelder and Brown. In 1920, Batchelder had a new factory and partner and changed the name to Batchelder-Wilson Company. The company closed down in 1932. In 1936, Batchelder opened up Batchelder Ceramics in Pasadena, and made bowls, vases and pots.

He retired in 1951 and died a few years later in 1957.
