Philco (Philadelphia Storage Battery Company) decided to make radios in 1926 and by 1928 the first Philco radios were introduced. By the 1930’s, they were selling more radios than anybody else and this lasted for the next couple of decades. The Philco radio was the top selling radio in the 1930’s. By 1954, they had sold more than 30 million radios. The most popular programs people were listening to at the time was The Bop Hope Show and Jack Benny Show.
