Westvleteren 12 – Trappist Westvleteren XII Beer Collectibles
Westvleteren 12 beer has been rated as one of the best beers in the world. It is a dark, slightly sweet beer that is made by Belgian monks at the Westvleteren Abbey, also known as the St. Sixtus Abbey. The only place to buy this beer was directly from them, at the Trappist Abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren in Belgium. It is one of the more rare beers because they brew about the same amount each year since 1945, about 3,800 barrels a year, just enough to keep the abbey going.
On December 12th, 2012, it was available in the United States for the first time ever and only for a very limited time for $84.99. It included 6 bottles of beer and 2 glasses. It was called a “brick” because the money earned was needed for expensive renovation to the abbey. There were only 1500 bricks available and they sold out in a matter of hours.
