Blue Ridge Pottery

Blue Ridge Pottery was started in the 1930’s, in Erwin, Tennessee, by Southern Potteries Incorporated. They produced china, dinnerware, pitchers, platters, vases and much more in many different patterns.

They were first known as Clinchfield Potteries, until they incorporated in 1920 as Southern Potteries, Incorporated. In the 1930’s, they started making dinnerware known as Blue Ridge China, which was hand painted with bright colors. At one time, Blue Ridge China was the best selling dinnerware in the United States, being sold in department stores such as Sears and thru catalogs. During the 1940’s, they had over 1,000 people working for the company, producing over 300,000 hand painted pieces per week. There was a series of Artists Signed Plates, that is very rare and valuable today. Artists working for Blue Ridge were able to make their own designs and sign each plate.

They had to close down in 1957, mainly to the growing popularity of plastic dinnerware.

I have a pattern that I can’t find anywhere. I don’t even have the name of it. If anyone knows where I can send a picture front and back that could help me identify it, I would appreciate it. They were a wedding gift for my mother in 1953. I do know there are a couple of pieces that say 13d and 13f and #4438 but I don’t know what that means. I would like to get replacement parts if I can.

I have a complete set of blue ridge southern pottery. It has colonial trim, I am not sure if it’s flirt or mountain bell pattern. I have the tea set with creamer and sugar bowl, with matching serving set. How do you identify the difference between the two sets. I would like to find this set a good home as I am downsizing into my RV to travel for the next several years. 253 324 0561

For those looking for a particular pattern or piece, a good place to check is Replacements, Ltd online. I have quite an extensive collection of the Chintz pattern. I have bought through ebay and others, but to me, the Replacements give a pretty fair market value of a piece–with good description re: condition, size, etc. Go there first, then go to the auctions knowing what a particular piece is worth and stick to your bid and go no higher. Be careful to ask about the condition. Also invest in a good Blue Ridge collector’s book. You can gain a lot of useful information there.

I am trying to locate any items from the decal design pattern BRP47. Center floral bouquet and red filigree border. I am also trying to locate any items from the Royal Rajah Maroon decal pattern. The same center floral bouquet and red border lacking the filigree design. Replacements has a few Royal Rajah Maroon pieces left, where i have purchased some.

I am searching for replacement pieces for Allegheny pattern of Blue Ridge southern potteries. This has three flowers blue, yellow, wine with an edging of wine. Items: 1 salad plate (or more), cereal/soup bowls and sauce dishes.

My family had a 12 place setting since the late ’40’s. They were used for “Sunday dishes” for many years. Now, I’m trying to give at least an 8 place setting to the next generation. Any help will be most appreciated.

I am trying to locate a salad bowl & matching platter. When I first got these at a house sale in 1972, they had matching salad servers.
The pattern is 9 grapes, a pear(center) and 2 cherries, with leaves and stems. The bowl is trimmed in green around the top, as is the platter. I no longer have the serving fork or spoon.
I would like to know if there is any value to this set. I have used them often over the years, and the daughters have fond memories of the parties and meals served with them. I qm planning on handing them down to one of them.
    Thank You, Carla Hendrickson
