Higgins Glass was founded in 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, by Michael and Frances Higgins. They produced art glass and fused glass, including housewares, tableware, wall sculptures, jewelry and much more.

From 1947 until 1964, they partnered with Dearborn Glass Company and produced “higginsware”. Items included ashtrays, tableware and room dividers, with over 75 patterns produced.

In 1965, they briefly moved their base of operations to Haegar Potteries, then in 1966, opened their own studio in Riverside, Illinois, where they’ve been ever since.

Michael Higgins died in 1999 and his wife Frances died a few years later in 2004. The company is still in operation today under longtime associates, Jonathan and Louise Whimmer.

I have a large ashtray with gold Higgins signature on the bottom right corner. It has various pinks, gold, and white squares and rectangles. it is in perfect condition. Any thoughts on its value? it was packed away in my great aunts collections. I see a lot of Higgins, but not this one.

I have a big 17 1/4 inch patterned “peacock bowl” blue in color with a gold signature.

My mother bought a large pink glass ash tray with square colored pieces embedded in it. I was around 5 which would be around 1957. It is signed Higgins on the corner on top. I have pictures that I can send. Would love to know the value if you could tell me
